WHAT IS PATH SYSTEM
Project for Acha-Tugi Healthcare System (PATH SYSTEM) represents a paradigm shift in the way we craft access to preventive and primary health care services in Meta region of Cameroon. It combines outreach mobile clinic, motorcycle visits and home care. We provide medical services at churches, markets, and events, including follow-up visits at homes. Home visits by a Doctor employed by PATH System and nurses take medical care to patients in the face of difficulties to reach treatment centers.
We sustain medical care by providing microloans for small investments to sustain medical care provisions. Poverty and healthcare are bedfellows with each sustaining the other. Those who participate in microloans are provided cards similar to Medicare provided in the United States. They invest in short term businesses in order to obtain free or subsidized medical care and hospitals and Health Centers improve quality to attract microloans investors. In the process, PATH SYSTEM improves the quality of care and standard of living of Meta People. This leads to a decrease in diseases and the many deaths from malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS. For villagers who cannot work, outreach medical care includes free access to basic health care through treatment, prevention, pre-natal care physical exams and outreach health education.
Meta Region has challenges of poor roads, poor communications' technology, dilapidated medical buildings, inadequate medical management strategies, inadequate accountability, and limited assessment strategies, lack of equipment and medications, and limited trained medical staff. PATH SYSTEM develops solutions, stretching medical knowledge boundaries from traditional medical care settings so that each solution for each challenge or around each challenge results in saved lives.
